Ebenezer Kojo Kum, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahanta West Constituency in the Western Region, has stated that rejecting the 2022 budget will halt the country’s development.
The budget, according to the Ahanta West MP, aids in the development of every country.
Hon Ebenezer Kojo Kum told Abena Pokua Ahwenee on Dadi FM’s “Efa Wo Ho” morning show that the budget’s rejection will make paying public salaries difficult.
Every Member of Parliament, according to Hon Ebenezer Kojo Kum, has a mandate to ensure that the parliament’s decisions are affected.
“The country cannot pay civil and public officials without a budget,” he told Abena Pokua Ahwenee.
When the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, asked the question, all 137 Minority Members of Parliament (MPS) voted against the resolution.
Over a dispute with the Speaker, the Majority Caucus had earlier walked out of the Chamber.
Before rejecting the budget statement, the House voted to reject the Finance Minister’s request to withhold votes on the budget to allow for more consultation with the Majority and Minority leaderships, particularly on the Electronic Levy (E-Levy) and a request to include the Blekusu Sea Defence Project in the budget.
