Rebecca Akufo-Addo Will Put Her Husband Into Trouble – Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia says first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo’s decision to refund all allowances paid her since 2017 will put her husband into trouble.

Speaking to Mugabe Maase, he wondered where the first lady got all those monies she refunded from; wondering if it was what Information Minister, Oppong Nkrumah truly talked about.

Oppong Nkrumah is quoted to have said, “The President does approve salaries and benefits for the Executive. Under Article 71, the First Lady and Second Lady are not office-holders so no one can determine their benefits under that article…However, a committee only recommended that an arrangement for the spouses be made formal and that received approval from Parliament.”

In reaction, Asiedu Nketia said, “What she has done will put his husband into trouble. Are the funds she refunded what Oppong Nkrumah talked about or where is she getting them from?” he quizzed.
