A former PNDC/NDC appointee and local government expert, Professor Kwamena Ahwoi has claimed former president Jerry Rawlings used to play with his toy planes during Cabinet meetings.
According to him, Mr Rawlings used that to feign disinterest in ongoing discussions at Cabinet meetings while serious discussions were ongoing.
He made this revelation in his book, ‘Working With Rawlings’.
”Oftentimes, he would feign disinterest and be looking through the window or playing with his toy planes” the former minister wrote.
He further claimed the former president had no knowledge of issues being discussed at Cabinet meetings and therefore tried to engage in activities that were not part of discussions.
”In my encounters with him at PNDC meetings and at Cabinet meetings, I could tell that he did not understand many of the very technical issues that used to be debated.”
Mr Ahwoi’s book has come under scrutiny after the likes of Prof Gyampo and Kwesi Pratt questioned him on why he would release a book that reveals sensitive issues of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) few months to a crucial election.
