Proposed Ghana Gold Company Had No Secret Beneficial Owner Unlike Agyapa Deal — Mahama

Former president and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has refute claims of NPP linking the a 2011 proposed Ghana Gold Company to Agyapa Royalties Deal.

According to Mahama, the justification of the Agyapa Deal in the name of a 2011 proposed Ghana Gold Company is inaccurate and disingenuous.

He clarifies that, the said proposed Ghana Gold Company was 100% intended to be owned by government and the people of Ghana, adding that it had no planned secret beneficial owners.

For Mahama, “the Agyapa deal is shrouded in secrecy, its beneficial owners are unknown, and it seeks to “monetise Ghana’s gold royalties for the next 15 years and even in perpetuity without the consent of the people of Ghana”.

He said this while addressing chiefs and the people of Kaleo in the Upper West Region.
