Pressure Mounts On Sompa FM Presenter Who Confessed To ‘Chopping’ 14-Year Old Student As Sarkodie, Lydia Forson Call For Arrest And Prosecution

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has called for the arrest of Nana Poku Piesie, a radio personality with Sompa FM, following his shocking confession on live radio. Piesie admitted to having engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a young student while he was a teacher in Dormaa Ahenkro.

The startling revelation came during a discussion about the nature of Karma on Sompa FM. Piesie shared his personal story, saying, “Now after my daughter also got to that level, I noticed one teacher had also started engaging her inappropriately, and so I complained about it to my wife, and then she reminded me of my past sin with the other girl.”

Piesie’s confession included details about his relationship with the young girl, which began when she was his student and continued until she completed her secondary school education. He described how he took advantage of extra classes to initiate the relationship, reflecting on how his past actions might have brought about his current situation.

The confession has ignited a firestorm of condemnation from the public. Many Ghanaians have expressed their outrage over Piesie’s actions and the seemingly nonchalant manner in which he discussed them. The widespread backlash has led to numerous calls for his arrest and for justice to be served.

Actress Lydia Forson was among the first public figures to react to the video, expressing her deep concern and criticism of Piesie’s actions. “If I speak on this video now, you will say I hate men. You will ignore that this man openly bragged about sleeping with a 14-year-old on air. You will instead focus on my outrage; or make it the 14-year-old’s fault for allowing this. Ok,” Forson wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Sarkodie, aligning with Forson’s sentiments, took to social media to demand Piesie’s arrest. “I sense no hate here; he should not be walking around freely,” Sarkodie tweeted, emphasizing the need for immediate legal action against the radio personality.

Nana Poku Piesie’s admission has significant legal and ethical implications. Engaging in a sexual relationship with a minor is a criminal offense in Ghana, and his public confession has heightened demands for a thorough investigation and legal proceedings. Child rights advocates and legal experts have highlighted the necessity of protecting minors and holding individuals accountable for their actions, especially those in positions of authority and trust.

As the controversy continues to escalate, Sompa FM has yet to release an official statement addressing Piesie’s confession. The radio station faces mounting pressure to take appropriate action and to ensure that ethical standards are maintained in its programming.
