A Policeman with the National Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit of the Ghana Police Service has suffered bruises after a violent confrontation with a civilian, one Baba Akurugu, over a lady whose name was given as Doris.
The Policeman, Inspector Jerry John Lomornor was embroiled in the violent incident after he had visited the lady at the center of the brouhaha, Doris Tawiah at her house at Ofankor.
Inspector Lomornor, realizing that Doris’ door had been locked, decided to sit close to her corridor and wait only to see Baba Akurugu come out of the room and land some heavy punches on his face.
According to the account of eyewitnesses, Baba Akurugu tried to hit the Policeman’s head with a stone while he was lying on the ground and also attempted to disarm him of his pistol.
This led to the pistol firing accidentally and causing harm to the left knee of Baba Akurugu and the right leg of Doris Tawiah.
Meanwhile, according to the Police, they visited the crime scene but could not find a shell to ascertain the claims that there had been a shooting.
