Police Should Have Invited Owusu Bempah Instead Of Arresting Him Like A Nobody In Society – Maurice Ampaw Fumes

Prvate legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has expressed disappointment in the Ghana police for the manner in which they effected the arrest of Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry, Reverend Owusu Bempah.

Rev Owusu Bempah was arrested together with three other suspects namely; Michael Boateng, Frederick Ohene and Nathaniel Agyekum, on Sunday, September 13, 2021, at his church premises.

Accoridng to the police, Owusu Bempah and the other suspects were “being detained for further investigations over the creation and circulation of multiple videos containing threats, the brandishing of a weapon and the assault of some police personnel.

“After critically analyzing the said videos and based on intelligence gather, the police embarked on an operation on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the premises of the church to arrest the suspects.”

The statement further said they’ll be processed to court today.

Owusu Bempah and some of his junior pastors stormed the residence of converted priestess, Nana Agradaa threatening to deal with her for disrespect.

However, Maurice Ampaw believes the police could have acted more professionally by inviting the man of God instead of storming his church to arrest him while he was addressing some of his congregants.

According to him that was disrespect to the Mr Owusu Bempah considering his standing in society.

“I’m totally disgusted and annoyed with the Ghana Police by the way they conducted themselves by the way they arrested Owusu Bempah. We all are in this country and we have what we call protocols and there are certain people in society, we don’t arrest them; you give them an invitation.

“If a judge is sitting on a case in court, you dare not go and arrest the judge: you write to the Chief Justice, you seek a guidance to invite the person. The same is with Members of Parliament. You realize that Jesus Christ, when he was being attacked, Peter defended him. In the same way, when a man of God is the leader of a church and is in the process of leading people and you go there and effect arrest?” he quizzed.
