Police Officially Arrest ‘Fake Pregnant’ Takoradi Woman

Police in Takoradi in the Western Region have officially arrested and detained Josephine Panyin Mensah, a 28-year-old woman who allegedly faked her kidnapping and pregnancy.

She has been detained at the Takoradi Central police cells.

Josephine was officially arrested on Friday night, September 24, 2021, immediately after the police claimed that she had confessed that her story was a was a hoax.

“The suspect, Josephine Panyin Mensah, 28, has confessed to the Police during further investigations and stated that neither was she pregnant nor ever being kidnapped. The public will be updated with further details,” police said in a statement.

Meanwhile renowned Takoradi-based solicitor Fiifi Buckman has said Josephine cannot be incriminated by law.

Speaking on Connect FM he said even if she faked her kidnapping or the pregnancy, she cannot be prosecuted for no apparent reason.

“There is no law that can incriminate the current controversial suspected Takoradi kidnapped pregnant woman if she faked,” the solicitor contended.

According to him Josephine can only be prosecuted if its proven beyond reasonable doubt that she aided in her supposed kidnapping.

“The woman will have herself to be blamed if it turns out that she conspired in her kidnap. The issue will be treated holistically as someone who aided in a kidnap,” stressed lawyer Buckman.
