Police Never Went To Sosu’s Church To Arrest Him; They Were There For Intelligence Gathering – Ghana Police

The police administration has denied sending officers to arrest the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, while in church on Sunday.

In a statement, they said the undercover cops were solely in the church for intelligence gathering.

“Stories circulating that some Police personnel had been dispatched to arrest the MP at a church on Sunday, October 31, 2021, are untrue,” police said in a statement.

This comes after the lawmaker had been on the police’s wanted list after leading his constituents on a demonstration on October 25, 2021 due to bad roads.

He narrowly escaped arrest during the protest after his constituents went all out to ensure the police does not lay hold on him.

Last Sunday reports indicated that the police had stormed his church to apprehend him but he once again escaped.

However, the police in its statement indicated that there may have been some plain-clothed personnel at the church, but they were there “for intelligence purposes and not to effect an arrest.”
