Police Increases Bounty On Old Woman Killers to GHC7,000

Weeks ago a viral video of an old woman who was being lynched by some persons in Kafaba, a town in the East Gonja district surfaced on social media.

Akua Denteh, a 90-year old woman was accused of being a witch and was subjected to beatings by some town folks of the Kafaba town which eventually led to her demise.

The brains behind her attack, Sanjo, Hajia Filini, Teacher Aliu, Bumaye, Ashley and Manafo have been on the run since the incident.

Ramping up efforts to apprehend the suspects, the Ghana Police Service announced a cash reward of GHC2,000 to anyone who helps with information leading to the arrest of these persons.

Speaking on Happy FM, the Savannah Regional Police Commander, DCOP Enoch Adu-Twum Bediako said the reward have been increased further to GHC7,000.

“The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has committed an amount of GHC2,000 and this has been topped up with an extra GHC5,000 from a private individual. This is the current bounty for any information that can lead to the arrest of the two women seen in the video,” he said.

He appealed to residents of the Savannah region to help the police arrest those behind the woman’s death as he admitted the police are having a difficult time locating them.

 “We need people to help us catch the priestess and the other woman who beat her. They went into hiding after the incident and we’re still looking for them,” he pleaded.
