Police Denies Arresting WhatsUp News Editor At Gun Point; Cites Extortion As Reason For Arrest

The Ghana Police Service has denied arresting WhatsUp News editor, David Tamakloe in a Rambo-styled manner.

In a statement signed by Ms Juliana Obeng, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Head of Public Affairs/CID, the Police said Mr Tamakloe was apprehended on allegations of extortion.

“Suspect was arrested on alleged offences of attempt to commit crime to wit: extortion contrary to section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act29).

“However the CID denies any allegations of arresting the suspect at gun point.”
