Police Arrests One Person In Possession Of “Missing” EC Biometric Verification Device

The Ghana Police Service has apprehended Yaw Korateng in Nsawam, located in the Eastern Region, for being in possession of a device suspected to be the property of the Electoral Commission (EC). The suspect is currently in police custody, cooperating with investigators to determine the origins and purpose of the device.

In a press release issued on August 23, the police confirmed that they have informed the EC of the arrest and invited them to verify whether the device belongs to their organization. The EC’s response is expected to aid in the ongoing investigation.

The police also expressed their appreciation to the public for their cooperation and support. “As the investigation into this incident continues, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all stakeholders for their continuous support to ensure security, law, and order during this election period and beyond,” the statement read.

The investigation remains active, and the police are committed to ensuring transparency and maintaining public trust during this process.
