President Akufo-Addo today October 5, 2020 visited the premises of former president Jerry John Rawlings to commiserate with him and his family after losing his mother, Madam Victoria Agbotui.
“When my mother died, I was Foreign Minister of Ghana, but I cried like a baby; so, I know exactly how you are feeling,” the President said as he consoled Mr Rawlings.
President Akufo-Addo noted that he was out of town when the news broke out therefore he made it a point to come over quickly once he returned.
“I got back to Accra last night and decided to call on you today,” Nana Akufo Addo said.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of Madam Agbotui’s funeral, Mr Dan Abodakpi on behalf of the family expressed their gratitude to the President and told him the funeral will take place on Saturday October 24, with a non-denominational service at the Forecourt of the State House, after which the body will be conveyed to Dzelukope for interment.
The President then proceeded to sign the book of condolence.
