Photos: Akufo-Addo Arrives In Guinea; Welcomed By Coup Leader Col. Doumbouya
President Akufo-Addo is in Guinea to convey the decision of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the military leaders in the country who took over power through coup d’état.
President Akufo-Addo is in the troubled country in his capacity as the Chair of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
He is to relay to the leader of the National Committee for Reconciliation and Development (NCRD), Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, decisions of the Authority taken at its emergency summit in Accra on Thursday, September 16.
ECOWAS has given the military rulers in Guinea six months to return the country to constitutional order.
ECOWAS has further imposed travel ban on the military leaders as well as their family members and supporters and frozen the financial assets of members of the military junta.
ECOWAS called on the African Union, the European Union, the United Nations, and other multilateral and bilateral partners to support the implementation of these sanctions.
