Photo: Arise Ghana Demonstrators Injure Head of Police After Clash

The police on Tuesday fired tear gas to disperse members of the pressure group Arise Ghana as they protest over high cost of living in Accra.

The demonstrators were wielding placards with inscriptions such as “Mr President where is our money?” “We are tired of you and your government,” among others.

Some of the protesters pelted objects at the police as security officers fired tear gas in the melee at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The police said 12 personnel were injured in the clash.

Below is an official statement from the police:

“What a shame, we were there to protect you and ensure your safety, but you throw stones at us, injure and hurt us,” the police tweeted, sharing pictures of some injured personnel.
