It was an intense day at the seat of the Overlord of the Asante Kingdom (Manhyia) yesterday when the Asantehene pardoned one Chief and destooled another over issues of misconduct that were brought to his attention.
The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II granted pardon to the Bantamahene, Baffuor Owusu Amankwatia IV, who had been accused of encroaching on some lands, leading to a diversion of the course of the Subin river.
It will be recalled that in the case of the Bantamahene, the highest military officer in the Asante Kingdom, he had cause to kneel before the Asantehene last year and personally apologize for his wrongdoing after he was nearly destooled over the same encroachment issue.
Another chief, Nana Nkawie Kumaahene was not so lucky as he was destooled for misconduct in a separate matter.
