Otto Addo To Name Hearts Of Oak Midfielder In Ghana Squad For Nigeria Clash

Ghana’s new technical team is working around the clock to select the best players for the two legged 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

A team led by ex-Ghana star, Otto Addo as head coach with former Newcastle United manager, Chris Hughton as they technical advisor, Mas Ud Didi Dramani, Stephen Appiah and George Boateng as the other assistants must win the double header to book a place in Qatar later this year. The first leg of the clash comes up at the Cape Coast Stadium on March 25 with the return fixture fixed for the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja four days after the first leg. Ghana missed out on the last edition in Russia 2018 and are faced with a must win over the two legs to appease the football followers.

The Black Stars have already made three consecutive appearances in 2006, 2010 and the 2014 editions in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively. There is a delay in the naming of the squad for the Super Eagles clash where as Nigeria have already named their squad with stand-by players. The news in the Ghanaian media is that, former Black Stars midfielder, Sulley Muntari is likely to be named in the squad.

The 2010 UEFA Champions League winner with Inter Milan has since joined Ghana Premier League club, Hearts of Oak u til the end of the season and has equally hit the ground running. It remains to be seen if the English FA Cup winner with Portsmouth will be named by Otto Addo, a person he played with at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
