Only A Lazy Leader Will Think Of Legalizing Okada – Presidential Staffer Slams Mahama

The Director of Programmes at the Office of the Vice President, Salam Mustapha has chided former president John Dramani Mahama for his promise to legalize the operations of Okada riders if elected president again.

According to Mustapha, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer is lazy and cannot think of creating sustainable jobs for the youth.

In a statement he said, “whose son/daughter deserves to work in the bank and whose should ride an okada? Such avaricious fickle mindedness. Only a lazy leader will think legalizing okada is doing something good. The first option should be decent jobs for the teeming youth of this country.”

He touted some achievements of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) like the Nation Builders Corp, NEIP, the youth in Afforestation programme.

See full statement below:

NPP BETTER FOR THE YOUTH OF GHANA.

In terms of employment opportunities no government in our history can beat the Akufo-Addo regime. Teaching and non teaching staff alone is over 66,000 and will hit a hundred thousand by close of this year. Massive recruitment for medical staff across all categories. Security services has seen the highest in take under this regime. 100,000 under NABCO who hitherto were unemployed graduates, Forestry Commission 45,000…just to mention a few.

Whose son/daughter deserves to work in the bank and whose should ride an okada? Such avaricious fickle mindedness. Only a lazy leader will think legalizing okada is doing something good. The first option should be decent jobs for the teeming youth of this country.

Imagine the kind of decent jobs that industrialization can create. Why not promote aggressively the 1D1F policy. Why not promote Planting for food and jobs and encourage the youth to go into agribusiness? Why risk their lives on the streets?

NEIP alone has supported some 45,000 startups for young people. We have seen the Presidential Pitch concept and how it’s empowering people across the country. This is serious leadership. Leadership is a serious business and not some lousy joke for the sake of it.

The difference between the two of candidates is clear. Akufo-Addo has shown serious leadership in the last 3.8yrs as head of State. Ghana is witnessing very rapid change albeit little challenges that will see redress.

Ghanaians deserve better; a good leadership. Not a lousy one seeking aggrandizement. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo deserves a second term for his good performance.
