Social commentator, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus has wondered why civil society organization, Occupy Ghana has become quiet in the midst of all the hardships facing the country.

Occupy Ghana was initially a movement that emerged on social media during the erstwhile Mahama administration, which organized a demonstration dubbed “Occupy Flagstaff House”.

The movement picketed at the front lawns of the Flagstaff house, demanding accountability and better governance from the Mahama administration.

Following the successful oganization of the demonstration, the movement metamorphosed into a civil society organization that consistently kept the government in check.

However, the group has become very quiet since 2017 when President Akufo-Addo came into power.

In an interview on TV3, A Plus claimed that some of the members of the group are now occupying top positions in government and are therefore unable to criticize government.

A Plus labelled the group as an NPP organization that fought for their stomach instead of the country.
