Nurses And Midwives Deserve “Emotional Allowance” – GRNMA President

Due to the nature of their professions, the Ghana Registered Nurses’ and Midwives’ Association (GRNMA) said it would also be campaigning for “Emotional Allowance.”

According to the Association, nurses and midwives face a variety of stress and emotional issues in their jobs, therefore if some workers demand neutrality allowances, they will also need emotional allowances.

Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, the Association’s President, made the revelations in an exclusive interview with 3FM’s Sunrise on Thursday, hosted by Alfred Ocansey.

Every year on May 12th, nurses all across the world are honored. “A Voice to Lead—Invest in Nursing and Respect Rights to Secure Global Health” is the theme for this year’s event.

“Considering the types of things we go through in our duties, we may be entitled to emotional allowance,” the President added.

“And the kind of stress that we go through, I think we deserve such tolerance,” Mrs. Ofori-Ampofo added.

“Perhaps we’ll table it for discussion at our next negotiation table,” she continued.
