Mr Kwesi Amoako Atta, the Minister in charge of Roads and Highways at a presser in Wa said 78 road projects are currently under construction in the Upper West Region.
According to Mr Amoako Atta, 21 of these road projects are being constructed under the supervision of the Ghana Highway Authority while 42 and 15 different road projects are being handled by the Department of Feeder Roads and Department of Urban Roads respectively.
He revealed that plans are far advanced for the commencement of 36 more road projects in the region before the year ends.
“In addition, we have 36 projects that are planned to be added to the existing and ongoing 78 projects within the next one and a half to two months. These 36 projects are at various stages of procurement. The roads have been identified, inventories have been taken on them, we have clearly established the scope of work for each of these 36 identified roads. We have done the estimates for each of them, some have been advertised and we expect prospective contractors to come and buy the tender documents and then the rest of the procurement processes will follow.”
