The ruling NPP could be in for a shocker with regards to their majority presence in the soon-to-be opened 8th Parliament as the Party continues to”play with fire”.
The NPP, currently with 137 seats apiece with the NDC, would need the other remaining seat which belongs to the independent MP from Fomena in the Ashanti Region to form a majority.
However, despite how vital the Fomena MP remains to the Party that hounded him out of the seventh parliament a few months ago, some bigwigs in the NPP have refused to set aside their ego in order to embrace sound logic.
The MP-elect for Fomena, Isaac Amoako Asiamah continues to be treated like an outcast by the same people who badly need his support to retain control of parliament.
Despite the fact that the controversial NPP chairman for Fomena has resigned, the other executives still maintain that they do not recognize Mr Asiamah and cannot work together with him.
As it stands, we the party executives do not recognize the MP-elect as one of us because according to the party’s constitution when one goes independent, he or she ceases to be part of the great NPP so we will treat his claims with contempt it deserves”, Fomena NPP Constituency Secretary Osei Mensah insisted.
However, Mr Amoako Asiamah has given the NPP a condition that all the Party executives in the constituency should resign before he agrees to Support the NPP in parliament.
This portal understands that the NDC is also closely monitoring his situation and will attempt to reopen talks with him in order to get his support and form the majority.
