Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chairman of the Planning Committee for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2025 National Annual Delegates Conference, has announced that 5,675 delegates are set to attend the party’s crucial gathering later this month.
The two-day conference, scheduled for July 18–19, 2025, will be held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, with key discussions focused on proposed constitutional amendments.
Addressing the media at the NPP Headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, Osei-Owusu, popularly known as Joe Wise, confirmed that the Constitutional Review Committee’s proposed changes will take center stage. He revealed that a 300-page document detailing the amendments has already been circulated to regional and constituency branches, along with a condensed 64-page summary for easier review.
“The agenda is to consider amendments proposed by the Constitutional Review Committee,” he stated. “These will be distilled into specific motions for delegates to vote on.”
COVID-19 Safety Measures in Place
With public health concerns in mind, Joe Wise assured that the party has implemented strict COVID-19 protocols to safeguard attendees.
“We anticipate questions about COVID-19, and we have prepared adequately,” he said. “Our Health Committee has taken all necessary steps to provide guidance and ensure no incidents occur during the conference.”
A Pivotal Moment for the NPP
The conference is expected to be one of the most significant in the party’s recent history, with the proposed amendments likely to influence the NPP’s internal structure and electoral strategies ahead of future elections.
Delegates will deliberate on key reforms aimed at strengthening the party’s governance and operational framework as it gears up for upcoming political contests.
