Auditor-General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo has in a Facebook post offered a word of advise to persons in leadership positions to treat their peers and subordinates right because they won’t be leaders forever.
Many of his followers have interpreted the post as targeted to some government authorities, albeit, it makes no reference to anyone in particular.
The post which had a picture of an out of use truck stated, “Life is a journey from birth to death.”
He added, “Your career is equally a journey from appointment to retirement. Therefore, prepare for life after retirement. Be good to your juniors, students, clients/customers and employees because you will not be the boss forever. Regardless of how everyone fears you at the place of work, one day you are going to end up like this lorry, tired, retired and abandoned. And if you were cruel, your pain will be worse.”
President Akufo Addo on June 29, 2020 directed Mr Domelevo to take his accumulated annual leave of 123 working days.
A response by the Auditor General disagreeing with the President’s stance, further led to the increase of his leave from 123 days to 167.
Recent reports suggested the locks to the office of the Auditor General had been changed when he went there to pick some items.
