Nobody Has Approved You; Stop Behaving Like Deputy Ministers – Haruna Iddrisu Warns Nominees

Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu has cautioned deputy minister-nominees who parade themselves as such when they’ve not yet been approved to desist from it.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday May 25, many of the deputy minister-nominees are in a hurry to assume office, thereby preempting the work of the Appointments Committee.

“There are many of them who are in a hurry to assume office even while Parliament has not even considered their nomination. May I Mr. Speaker serve a warning that in accordance with the ruling J.H. Mensah vs Attorney General, they will be in a hurry at their own peril because they must respect the provisions of the Constitution,” Mr Iddrisu said.

Vetting of deputy minister-nominees is expected to commence on June 2, 2021.
