No Subsidised Fertilizers for Farmers If NDC Reject E-levy – Agric Minister Warns

The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto has warned that there’ll be no revenue to support the subsidization of agro-chemicals supplied to farmers under the Planting for Food and Jobs if the e-levy proposal is not passed into law.

Addressing farmers in the Upper East region he said government must raise revenue to cater for the subsidy because world prices continue to soar.

It has therefore become imperative that government employ alternative sources of raising income hence, the electronic levy which has been met with rejection from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The e-levy brouhaha continue to drag as the Minority and Majority sides of Parliament remain divided.

The Finance Minister, Ken ofori-Atta has said government will continue to engage the minority side to find common grounds on the proposed e-levy.
