In a shocking incident in Kudan, Kaduna State, a newlywed woman, Habiba Ibrahim, has been arrested for allegedly severing the manhood of her husband, Salisu Idris, while he was asleep. The incident occurred on May 26, following Idris’s return from early morning prayers.
Idris, a 40-year-old commercial motorcycle rider, recounted that he was resting on his bed when his wife suddenly attacked him with a sharp knife. His cries for help alerted neighbors, who quickly came to his rescue.
The couple had been married for about four months. Idris expressed his confusion over the motive behind the attack, stating that they had a loving relationship with no prior misunderstandings. He was initially treated at a local hospital in Kudan before being transferred to the General Hospital Makarfi and subsequently to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, where doctors are working to save his life.
Idris’s mother, Rabi Salisu, who is currently looking after him in the hospital, mentioned that her son had never complained about his wife. She added that Habiba’s parents are concerned and have offered to cover his medical expenses.
The suspect has been arrested, but the state police command has yet to comment on the incident. Idris, reflecting on the traumatic event, expressed his fear of remarrying in the future due to the severe nature of the attack.
