NDC’s Stance On Voters Registration Reckless And Irresponsible – Evans Nimako

The Director of Elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Nimako has chided the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) stance on the just ended voters registration exercise.

According to him, the NDC have been reckless and irresponsible in the posture, adding that their flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama will be forced to retire from politics after December 7.

Speaking in an interview he said, “the NDC position on the voters’ registration exercise has been reckless and irresponsible. I don’t want to spend so much to discuss the position of the NDC…it won’t change.”

He further admonished the NDC for claiming the Electoral Commission are in bed with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to massage figures in the voters register.

“They’ve run a series of press conferences. The outcome the good people of Ghana have seen that majority of the people who are eligible to register turn out to register in their numbers”.

He added, “I mean a situation where we could have gotten 20 million people on the electoral vote is not what we are having here. We are having a little above the previous register which was 16.8 million. Now we have 16.9 million as supported by the EC.”

Mr Nimako explained, “Issue of adjudication, it is something that is going on. And so, it doesn’t surprise me much that the NDC says it will need an independent body to audit the register.”

“A register that is in the process of being complied. A register that has reached the state of adjudication and NDC has a representative on the National adjudication committee.”

He stressed, “for us as the New Patriotic Party, we felt that the leadership exhibited by His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia has earned them the confidence of the people of Ghana and they’re going to vote for them massively. We know that by the end of December 7, Mr Mahama will be retired from politics for good.”
