NDC’s 2020 Techiman South Parliamentary Candidate Used State Funds For His Sister’s Funeral In April 2016

The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament have detected that the former executive secretary of the Health Training Institution secretariat, Christopher Beyere Baasongti paid himself an amount of GHS 28,000 from the IGF during his tenure.

Mr Beyere was the NDC’s parliamentary candidate in the 2020 Techiman South election which generated huge controversy.

A 2017 auditor’s report cited Mr Beyere as having authorized the amount of GHS 28,000 to be paid from the institution’s internally generated funds to himself.

When confronted, Mr Beyere is reported to have admitted that he took the said money for his sister’s funeral and that he will pay it back to the state.

However, Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu has disclosed that he has personally tried to invite Mr Beyere to refund the money but his attempts have proved futile.
