NDC Will Give Okada Riders Training On Road Safety – Mahama’s Spokesperson

A deputy spokesperson for the John Mahama 2020 campaign team, Margaret Ansei has insisted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when voted into power will train Okada riders on road safety before regulating their business.

This comes after some political opponents of the NDC admonished their flagbearer John Dramani Mahama for his pledge to legalize Okada business if elected as president on December 7.

According to them, the Okada business is a risky venture which has caused many accidents in the country.

However, Madam Ansei on Power FM’s Dwaboase current affairs programme noted that the next NDC government has a fair appreciation of the sector and its contribution to the economy of the country than the NPP spokespersons thought.

She noted that Okada has created tremendous jobs for the youth however, it’ll be necessary to give them training on road safety before regulating their work.

“Currently, they [riders] don’t obey all the traffic regulations in order to be safe, however, when we train them and regulate their businesses they will be able to do their job safely and earn decent income,” she said.
