A known activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and fierce critic of the ruling Akuffo-Addo led government, in the Asawase Constituency, Murtala Mohammed, has switched allegiance to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He is said to have declared his readiness to help wrestle the Asawase seat for the NPP in the December parliamentary polls.
Murtala popularly called Prince Akuta, has surprised many with this move having played a key role in securing victory for NDC MP for the area, Mubarak Muntaka in the 2016 general elections.
On his reasons for leaving the NDC to join the NPP, Prince Akuta explained that he has been motivated by the massive development in Zongo communities under the leadership of the President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
