National Security Storms Kofi Jumah’s House In Attempts To Retrieve State Vehicles

Documents reveal that in 2019, the GIHOC Board approved Jumah’s purchase of a Genesis G90 saloon car (GE 86 22-19) under his employment terms. However, the vehicle, originally valued at over $100,000, was sold to him for a mere GHS 4,943.11—just 5% of its market price.

Citi News has reported that national security operatives conducted an early-morning raid at the residence of Maxwell Kofi Jumah, former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, in an attempt to recover state-owned vehicles allegedly in his possession.

The operation, which took place around 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, was part of a broader investigation into financial misconduct during Jumah’s tenure at the state-owned company. The former appointee of ex-President Nana Akufo-Addo was not present during the raid.

Questionable Vehicle Acquisition Under Scrutiny

Documents reveal that in 2019, the GIHOC Board approved Jumah’s purchase of a Genesis G90 saloon car (GE 86 22-19) under his employment terms. However, the vehicle, originally valued at over $100,000, was sold to him for a mere GHS 4,943.11—just 5% of its market price.

A technical inspection confirmed the 2018 model (chassis number KMHG34JXJU039991) was in good condition, with no prior maintenance issues. An independent valuation by the State Transport Corporation later appraised the car at GHS 98,862.00.

Additionally, Jumah is under investigation for allegedly keeping two other official vehicles—including an Audi worth over $60,000—without board approval. Sources say he later instructed security personnel to return the vehicles, with one reportedly being used by his son. So far, one vehicle has been recovered and transported to Accra.

Broader Allegations of Financial Mismanagement

Further accusations include:

  • Inflating GIHOC’s staff numbers, straining company finances.

  • Unauthorized sale of company properties in Tema valued at over $700,000.

Investigations are ongoing, with more developments expected as authorities dig deeper into the allegations.

What’s Next?

The case highlights growing scrutiny over state asset mismanagement under previous administrations. As investigations proceed, more officials could face similar actions as the government intensifies its anti-corruption drive.
