My Restaurant Collapsed After I Was Accused Of Being An NDC Supporter – Popular Actress Laments

Prominent actress and businesswoman Akofa Edjeani has announced the closure of her restaurant, citing significant challenges stemming from political allegations. Edjeani revealed that her establishment had been unfairly labeled as an NDC (National Democratic Congress) restaurant, resulting in a substantial loss of clientele.

Edjeani explained that the repercussions of this political tagging were far-reaching. Despite never publicly aligning herself with any political party, her restaurant suffered from reduced patronage and rejected business proposals. Efforts to secure contracts to provide catering services for various boards and organizations were consistently turned down due to the perception that she supported the opposition NDC.

“I closed it down. Well, let’s say I was tired. I started running at a loss, so I decided to close it. I wasn’t getting enough. You know, after COVID, everything went down. Everything got messed up,” Edjeani stated. She emphasized her frustration over the baseless political accusations, noting, “I got tagged that my place was an NDC place. If you send proposals to the board that you want to serve them food, they say no, this is an NDC person. I don’t know where I said I’m an NDC person.”

Edjeani clarified her stance, asserting her neutrality in political matters. “I’ve been neutral for a very long time. I have a lot of friends in the NPP, and I still know a lot of people in the NDC. But the NPP said I’m NDC, so this time, I might simply go all out,” she concluded.

The decision to close her restaurant, compounded by the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, marks a significant shift in Edjeani’s business endeavors. The actress, known for her longstanding career in the Ghanaian film industry, now faces the task of navigating the complex landscape of political perceptions in the business sector.
