My Party NDC Said Same Thing In 2016, We Shall See If The NPP Can Break The 8 – Bagbin

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin says going beyond 8-years for a political party in power in Ghana is a difficult thing to do.

According to him, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) back in 2016 when they were in power vowed to go beyond 8-years, however, could not achieve it.

Going into 2024, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are also determined to break the 8 by winning the next elections.

However, Bagbin believes only time can tell if that would be achievable.

“Our colleagues, like us – yes we did it before, are saying today that as for the next election they will win it. Yes, they say they will break it.

“In 2016, my party the NDC said the same thing. As for that one for sure they were breaking it. We didn’t break it. They are saying now they will. We’re hearing them; we shall see whether they can do that,” he asserted.
