Monies Given To Delegates Meant To Pamper Them Not Bribery – Buaben Asamoah

Yaw Buaben Asamoah, the New Patriotic Party’s Director of Communications, has rejected charges that delegates are bribed to vote for certain candidates.

According to him, such payments are not bribes, but rather a manner of ‘pampering’ delegates so they can vote easily.

His remarks come ahead of the NPP’s annual national delegates conference, which will be held at Heroes Park in Kumasi from Saturday, December 18, 2021 through Monday, December 20, 2021.

On Thursday, December 16, Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, host of Angel FM’s Anopa Bofo Morning show, stated that the funds given to them are not bribes. We’re just pampering them and making them feel at ease so they know where to put their thumbs during the voting process.

Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoah added that the second reason monies are given to people who vote for them is to assist them in their difficult times.

Sometimes these people who vote or campaign for you may lose their jobs or be rendered unemployed but they may need your help in times of sickness, when their rent expires or even need money for naming ceremonies or school fees and you have to help them because it is by virtue of their votes that you are in power and enjoying free V8 and fuel for government’s business, he said in the Twi parlance.
