The Minority in Parliament has hinted of launching possible impeachment proceedings against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo following allegations made by a canada-based Ghanaian lady who claims to have close association with the President in the past.

Madam Evelyn Adu, popularly known as Serwaa Broni, in an interview with US-based Ghanaian journalist, Kevin Ekow Taylor, made several allegations against the President, including allegations that the President initiated a state-sponsored robbery against her in order to retrieve some incriminating documents in her possession.

In a statement signed by Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, the Minority said it will study the contents of the interview and then take a position.

“…If proven to be true, [the sex scandal] raise grave charges of abuse of office, human right violations and conduct which bring the high office of President of Ghana into disrepute,” the statement read.

“The NDC Caucus has consequently requested and obtained a copy of the full interview in issue for further study, transcription and legal analysis. The caucus will very soon convey to Ghanaians the actions to be taken on the basis of the outcome of the ongoing legal analysis of the matter.”
