Leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko says a reshuffle of ministers may soon take place.
Speaking in an interview on Citi TV at the New Patriotic Party 2022 delegates conference he said if the President in his own wisdom deem it fit to reshuffle his ministers, it’ll definitely be done.
According to him the president’s mode of operation does not include reshuffling for the sake of it but he considers what he wants to do and how much his ministers are contributing towards that before he takes decisions.
He however noted that a reshuffle is likely to happen ahead of the 2024 elections.
“Clearly, between now and 2024, the need will arise. And some may say the need is now. But I think he is a listening president, he will listen, he will look at what he wants to do, what he is getting from his ministers, what he’s not getting from them, and make the right decision,” he said.
“I believe that there will definitely be some changes because as you said some will step down or will have to step down to pursue their presidential ambitions,” he added.
President Akufo-Addo has been widely criticised for failing to reshuffle his ministers, particularly, the finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
Many have questioned the President’s decision to continue to keep Ofori-Atta at the Finance Ministry despite the declining economy.
