Methodist SHS Students Defecate Into Polythene Bags As Toilet Facilities Are Full, Near Collapse [Photos]

Female boarding Students of Oyoko Methodist Senior High school, OMESS, located in Koforidua – Oyoko in the Eastern Region have resorted to defecating in Polythene bags due to the dangerous condition of their toilet facilities.

The pit latrine toilet facilities on campus for female boarding students are in a deplorable state.

The roofs are tattered while the toilet facilities are full but have not been emptied.

As a result, drain fly larvae have taken over the toilet facilities creating discomfort to few students who patronize it.

“We buy packets of polythene bags into our chop boxes whenever we are coming to school because we defecate into them and throw them away because the toilet facilities here are bad. we can’t use them. The heat and stench alone give as white and other diseases.” a female boarding student lamented.

Another female student said “the roof has torn so when it is raining you can’t go to the toilet. You will wet so we do shit and throw with polythene bags”

The situation is not different at the boy’s dormitory as some 1000 male boarders also attend nature’s call on deplorable pit latrine toilet facility.

A portion of the toilet has caved in but is still being used by the students at their peril.

The students want the government to urgently intervene to provide them with decent toilet facilities.
