Media Prohibited From Setting Up Make-Shift Studio To Cover Mid-Year Budget Review Tomorrow

As part of observing the COVID-19 protocols to stop the spread and infection of the disease, parliament has decided to prohibit the media from setting up a make-shift studio in covering this year’s mid-year budget which is happening on Thursday, July 23.

The Public Affairs Department of parliament explained that, the decision is in line with the COVID-19 protocols initiated by government.

Unlike previously when the media are allowed to set up make-shift studio in the foyer to take coverage of the event, such arrangements would not be allowed this time again due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Parliament made public its first two COVID-19 cases on march 12,2020 and as such it had become imperative that some of the preventive measures above be instated.

Also, there had been the closure of the public gallery with sanitizers and veronica buckets at vantage points.

The Speaker also disclosed that, visitors to the chamber are prohibited  and that they should follow their activities on television.
