Mahama’s Spokesperson Exposed For Lying About ‘Muddied Kintampo Waterfalls’

Deputy Spokesperson for the John Dramani Mahama campaign, Beatrice Annan, has been exposed for sharing misleading information about the Kintampo Waterfalls in the Bono East Region. Annan, a private legal practitioner, posted a video on social media showing a muddied waterfall, which she claimed was filmed in 2024 and blamed the situation on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

However, fact-checking organization Dubawa has debunked her claims. In their analysis, Dubawa revealed that the video in question was actually filmed in 2023, not 2024, as Annan had alleged. The organization verified the video’s origins, confirming that the waterfall occasionally becomes muddied during periods of torrential rain, but is generally clear.

Anas Sabit Anas, a journalist based in the Brong Ahafo region where the Kintampo Waterfalls are located, corroborated this information, stating that the muddied water is a natural occurrence after heavy rainfall, not a result of any government action.

Dubawa labeled Annan’s post as misleading, underscoring the importance of verifying information before sharing it, particularly in the lead-up to the December 2024 elections.
