National Communications officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has insisted a John Mahama led government will ensure the prosecution of all corruption scandals including the Power Distribution Services (PDS) saga under the Akufo Addo led government.
Speaking at the NDC’s weekly press briefing, the NDC bemoaned how no government official has been punished for the PDS saga although Energy Minister, Peter Amewu admitted it was fraudulent.
Government had through Parliament approved the concession agreement for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) under the Millennium Challenge Compact on July 25, 2018.
The agreement led to the takeover of ECG by the PDS which was expected to invest over US$ 580 million over a 5-year period into ECG to improve on its performance.
However, the deal was later suspended and eventually terminated by government on the basis of fraud where some persons were claimed to have forged documents to push through the deal.
Sammy Gyamfi stated, “the next NDC Mahama administration will ensure the arrest and criminal prosecution of all persons who directly or indirectly played roles in this stinking PDS scam and several corruption scandals we have witnessed under President Akufo-Addo.”
