Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe has indicated that former president John Dramani Mahama enjoys immunity and therefore cannot be prosecuted by Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.
Speaking on the issue of Mahama being named as Government Official 1 in the Airbus Scandal, he described as ’empty’ threats by Martin Amidu to interrogate the former president.
According to him, three years after exiting the Presidency, the Supreme Court gives Mahama immunity from such prosecutions. He explained that Amidu had within three years after Mahama left to investigate him, however, that is passed he can’t do anything to him.
“The end result of a criminal investigation is prosecution. So, the three years have elapsed and so there is nothing you can do about it; it is a waste of tax-payers’ money and time because you cannot take him to court anymore. That is why I am saying that Martin Amidu is trying to be relevant,” he was quoted by Peacefm online.
