Let’s Start With Lordina Mahama – Majority Reacts To Calls For Probing Of 1st Lady’s Accounts

The Majority in Parliament says they have no issue with calls for a probe into the accounts of First lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, however, it must start with former first lady Lordina Mahama and all other first ladies.

This comes after the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) called on the Auditor General to begin processes to look into the account of Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Hajia Samira Bawumia to check if they have enough monies to refund received allowances of over four years.

Reacting to it, lawmaker for Nhyiaeso Constituency Dr Stephen Amoah said the first lady, rebecca Akufo-Addo refunded her allowances due to the public backlash; adding that other First Ladies who also received same allowances in the past should begin processes to refund same.

“Some are saying [Mrs Akufo-Addo’s] account should be checked. Thank you very much. If that is the case, the account of Lordina Mahama, Her Excellency, respectfully, we must start from her.”

“We must start from all the First Ladies. All of them we have to. I agree to what [the NDC MPs] are saying but it couldn’t have been only one,” Dr Amoah said.
