La Traditional Council Suspended Indefinitely

The Ministry of Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs, in collaboration with the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, has indefinitely suspended the operations of the La Traditional Council. This decision, announced by Enoch Addo, Registrar of the House of Chiefs, is intended to facilitate the smooth running of the Council through the implementation of corrective measures.

As part of this directive, all governmental bodies have been instructed to refrain from engaging with individuals or groups presenting themselves as representatives of the La Traditional Council. This step ensures that no unauthorized parties conduct business in the name of the Council during the period of suspension.

Additionally, matters related to the La Paramount Stool Land have been temporarily put on hold until the Council resumes its activities or a new La Paramount Chief is formally enstooled. This aligns with the provisions set out in Section 45 of the Chieftaincy Act, which governs the processes around such transitions.

The Registrar of the La Traditional Council has been instructed to transfer all Council assets to the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, pending further instructions. This measure ensures that the property of the Council is safeguarded during this interim period. The Ministry and Regional House are expected to oversee the situation until normalcy is restored and proper leadership is in place.
