Kwasi Afrifa, the Kumasi-based lawyer at the center of the $5 million bribery allegation against the Chief Justice has refused to back down on his allegations.
According to him, he still stands by his allegations that his former client, Ogyeedom Obranu Kwesi Atta VI told him about the fact that the CJ demanded a $5 million bribe in order to deliver a favorable judgement in a matter they were litigating.
Today, Lawyer Afrifa told the High Court before which he is seeking to have 9 charges levelled against him by the General Legal Council (GLC) set aside, that his allegation was just a repeat of what his client Ogyeedom Obranu Kwasi Atta Vl had told him.
He insists he has not been a reckless officer of the court or peddled falsehood as the GLC has claimed.
Mr. Afrifa justifies his disclosure of this allegation by saying it was necessary to enable him to put up his defence at the GLC before which he had been dragged.
Meanwhile, a petition filed at the Presidency by pressure group, ASEPA seeking to impeach the Chief Justice has been dismissed as frivolous and vexatious.
