A social media user has shared her surprise at discovering the strong sense of community support in Kumasi compared to Accra. The netizen expressed that after moving from Accra to Kumasi, she was taken aback by how much people in Kumasi help each other in various situations.
According to her, the culture in Kumasi is one where people naturally come together to assist in both celebrations and difficult times.
She observed that during weddings, residents often contribute small but meaningful items like balloons and champagne, while during funerals, people willingly donate whatever they can to support the bereaved family. In contrast, she noted that such gestures of communal support are less common in Accra.
The comment was made in response to news that Auntie Naa, a popular host on Oyerepa FM, successfully raised GHC 500,000 to support a sick nurse on her show. This gesture, according to the netizen, reflects the giving nature she has come to associate with Kumasi, reinforcing her belief that the sense of solidarity there is stronger than in Accra.
