Kennedy Agyapong’s Contempt Case Goes To The Wire At The Supreme Court Tomorrow

The Supreme Court will tomorrow, Wednesday, October 13, decide on an application challenging the jurisdiction of the High Court to rule on a contempt case against MP for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Agyapong.

Members of the Court which included Justices Baffour Bonne as President, Yaw Appau, Gabriel Pwamang, Amadu Tanko, and Yuonne Kulendi, directed that the MP’s application be studied by the Attorney General office and argue the case in Court on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.

This was after the High Court Registrar had opposed Mr. Agyapong’s application without recourse to the Attorney General.

The outspoken and controversial legislator is facing charges for allegedly insulting a Justice of the High Court with unprintable words on a live television programme.

He has however pleaded not guilty to contempt after he was charged with scandalising the court and bringing its name into disrepute.
