Ken Agyapong’s Unnecessary Attack On Bawumia Betrays Evil Agenda To Gang Up Against VEEP In NPP Race

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central and a hopeful candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, has strongly criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also a prominent candidate in the flagbearership race. This has led to speculation that Agyapong is aligning himself with the other eight aspirants to form an alliance against the Vice President.

Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, the former Energy Minister, disclosed that he is part of a group of eight aspirants vying for the NPP flagbearer position, and they are collectively opposing Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy. Agyarko stated that they would not back Dr. Bawumia in a runoff scenario if he were to face another candidate.

According to intelligence sources, Kennedy Agyapong has allegedly been chosen to lead attacks on Dr. Bawumia as the campaigns for the NPP flagbearer position intensify. Agyapong’s recent statements suggest that he is targeting Dr. Bawumia, referring to him and his team as “strategists” responsible for Ghana’s economic challenges, particularly the significant depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the dollar during their time in power.

In his subtle criticism of Dr. Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong boasted about his accomplishments, stating that his steel plant would soon provide employment to thousands of workers in the country. He also mentioned owning the largest cold store in all of Africa. Agyapong further implied that unlike Dr. Bawumia, he is not reliant on government benefits, as the government pays for Dr. Bawumia’s expenses, including house staff and security, and he resides in government-owned accommodations.

“I employ 7,158 workers every month in this country. So, between the two of us, who is the real strategist? While this is internal politics and we shouldn’t resort to mudslinging, if they attack me, I won’t hesitate to respond.” he said.

In numerous polls, Dr. Bawumia has emerged as the frontrunner among the nine aspirants vying for the NPP flagbearership. Alan Kyeremanten and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong are also prominent contenders in the race.

However, Dr. Bawumia has garnered significant and enthusiastic support from the grassroots of the party, particularly in the Ashanti Region, which is widely regarded as the party’s stronghold.

In the wake of the recent attacks, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has gained a substantial and enthusiastic following, making him a favorite among many delegates. Despite Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s scathing attack, Dr. Bawumia is considered a leading contender in the flagbearership race and is predicted to perform strongly in both the special delegates conference and the November 4 polls.
