The running mate of the opposition NDC, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has added her voice to calls for a swift and strict punishment for Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong after he insulted and threatened a judge on live TV.
The learned professor believes that they did in the case of the infamous Montie 3, the judiciary must fairly and firmly crack the whip to protect the integrity of the judiciary.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang who was having an interaction with Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) officials noted that it will be fair for the MP to be at least tried in court.
She said: “If you are going to talk about name and shame, it should be consistent. If you are going to apply the laws, it should be consistent.”
She continued: “So, if another person does the same and just comes to apologise so end of story. That is corruption and I want to see that also highlighted because we are not allowing us to abide by the rules of telling the truth.
Prof. Naana also described the conduct of the maverick lawmaker as lawless and worse than the montie trio because of the influence he has.
