Nana Poku Piesie, a radio personality with Sompa FM has been arrested by the Ghana Police. This development follows his controversial confession on live radio, where he admitted to engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a young student during his time as a teacher.
The Confession
Piesie’s startling admission came during a discussion about the nature of Karma on Sompa FM. He revealed that he had initiated a relationship with a young girl, who was his student, and this relationship continued until she completed her secondary school education. He linked his past actions to a recent situation involving his own daughter, which led him to reflect on his behavior.
“Now after my daughter also got to that level, I noticed one teacher had also started engaging her inappropriately, and so I complained about it to my wife, and then she reminded me of my past sin with the other girl,” Piesie confessed on air. He described how he took advantage of extra classes to start the relationship and expressed a sense of karmic retribution for his actions.
Public Reaction and Arrest
The public reaction to Piesie’s confession was swift and severe, with widespread condemnation and calls for his arrest. Prominent figures, including rapper Sarkodie and actress Lydia Forson, voiced their outrage and demanded legal action.
“If I speak on this video now, you will say I hate men. You will ignore that this man openly bragged about sleeping with a 14-year-old on air. You will instead focus on my outrage; or make it the 14-year-old’s fault for allowing this. Ok,” Forson wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Sarkodie echoed Forson’s sentiments, tweeting, “I sense no hate here; he should not be walking around freely,” and emphasizing the need for immediate action against Piesie.
